COVID-19 Response Updates

OUR COVID-19 RESPONSE

Hi Church,

New WA Mandatory contact collection rules for Churches come into effect 5th December 2020.
Visit safewa.health.wa.gov.au on your smartphone for more information and to download the SafeWA App

App & Mandatory Contact Registers
In light of the newest mandatory contact register requirements, all people who attend Carey Church are asked to please download the SafeWA app onto their smartphone or device. Beginning Sunday 6th December, we will be using the SafeWA app to meet the mandatory contact register requirements for all services and ministries at Carey Church. Upon arrival at Carey Church ministries and services, all you will need to do is scan the QR code that will be displayed at the entrances. If you are with a guest who doesn’t have the app, you can easily enter their details into the app so they will also be contacted should there be a need.safe.

Please note, this is a mandatory requirement and your cooperation and assistance are greatly appreciated. Thanks, everyone for helping keep our community safe.

The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasised that we are living in a time when change seems to be constant! Fortunately, we also know that God’s love and grace are also constant. Outlined here are a number of the things we are doing in response to the continually changing environment and more particularly to God’s leading on what he is doing at this time. We continue to assess our activities in this light and as we keep update to date with changes in governmental guidance about how to best keep people safe.

Loving one another

As followers of Jesus, this is a time for us to remember Jesus’ call to “love one another” and put that into practice. Our decisions are being formed by seeking the well being of our families, friends, neighbours and community as much as our own.

How are we meeting

Forrestdale Campus
Carey Baptist Church, Forrestdale are currently meeting on-site at 10:00 am Sunday mornings.

Harrisdale Campus
Carey Baptist Church, Harrisdale are currently meeting on-site at 9:30am and also for Carey at Night at 5:30pm.

Our morning service is streamed live from our auditorium at 9:15am for those unable to be there in person. For more information visit the Sunday LIVE page. The service is also uploaded on our Podcasts & Recorded Services page and our Carey YouTube channel.

Connect Groups
We have also seen an explosion of Connect Groups. These groups meet regularly to share, read the bible and pray together, with an emphasis on being and making disciples. Each group decides whether to meet online or in-person or through a combination of the two, depending on current guidelines for keeping people safe and the groups’ preferences. We would encourage you to become part of a group. To get engaged in one of these groups fill out our Connecting with Carey Church form or email us at info@careychurch.asn.au

Large scale events will remain postponed until it is safe to run them.

Serving others

This change in the way we do church has shifted us from being the church “gathered” to the church “scattered”. It has brought unprecedented opportunity to serve and love others in tangible ways in a time of real need.

I encourage you to take hold of this opportunity in two ways. Firstly, be seeking ways to serve your own friends, colleagues, neighbours and community. Give them a call to check-in. Find out what you can do to help – remembering to do so with the appropriate hygiene practices in place to care for both yourself and those you are helping.

In a similar way, we would love you to be part of the church community team who will be doing these  things for people: making calls to those in isolation, assisting with food delivery (either by shopping or providing meals for others), praying and/or being available to offer other assistance that might be required.  To join this team, please send an email to info@careychurch.asn.au. or go to our online form here.

A Flourishing Community of Hope

We continue to hold our vision that we are becoming a flourishing community of hope. It may look and feel a bit different to how we might have imagined it just a few months ago, but it is exciting to be seeking God’s heart for us, together.

Please make sure we have your updated details, so we can communicate well with you. If you become sick or are feeling isolated, please let us know so we can call to check-in. And, of course, if you have questions, please let us know –  info@careychurch.asn.au. is the email address to use.

Our hope rests on Jesus and on the knowledge of God’s love. Nothing can take that away or change it. We may be living in circumstances that feel different than we have experienced before, but we continue to live in the light of eternity and eternal love given by the Father and available through his Spirit.
