COVID-19 Response Updates
Other ministries - connecting online
We continue to meet together as a community. The Harrisdale Campus does this through online services on Sundays at 9:30am and 5:30pm. These services are pre-recorded but shown on a platform that allows the whole community to engage through the chat function as we participate in the service, for more information visit the Harrisdale Service page. We also put the service on our Youtube channel for those that can’t make the online service. Forrestdale Campus are meeting together on ZOOM each Sunday Morning at 9:30am, more details are found on the Forrestdale Service page.
Our Youth and Kids programs from both campuses also continue online. Both offer multiple connection points during the week and are enabling those thriving ministries to continue to hear from God together.
We continue to review the possibility of offering face to face ministry as governmental advice on safe gatherings is issued.
The staff team is working hard to make sure that we adapt and provide every opportunity for us as a church community to stay connected and even flourish as we move into this period of doing things differently.
Events have been postponed until it is safe to run them.
We have also seen an explosion of Connect Groups. These groups meet regularly to share, read the bible and pray together, with an emphasis on being and making disciples. Each group decides whether to meet online or in-person or through a combination of the two, depending on current guidelines for keeping people safe and the groups’ preferences. We would encourage you to become part of a group. To get engaged in one of these groups fill out our Connecting with Carey Church form or email us at email@example.com
This change in the way we do church has shifted us from being the church “gathered” to the church “scattered”. It has brought unprecedented opportunity to serve and love others in tangible ways in a time of real need.
I encourage you to take hold of this opportunity in two ways. Firstly, be seeking ways to serve your own friends, colleagues, neighbours and community. Give them a call to check-in. Find out what you can do to help – remembering to do so with the appropriate hygiene practices in place to care for both yourself and those you are helping.
In a similar way, we would love you to be part of the church community team who will be doing these things for people: making calls to those in isolation, assisting with food delivery (either by shopping or providing meals for others), praying and/or being available to offer other assistance that might be required. To join this team, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. or go to our online form here.
A Flourishing Community of Hope
We continue to hold our vision that we are becoming a flourishing community of hope. It may look and feel a bit different to how we might have imagined it just a few months ago, but it is exciting to be seeking God’s heart for us, together.
Please make sure we have your updated details, so we can communicate well with you. If you become sick or are feeling isolated, please let us know so we can call to check-in. And, of course, if you have questions, please let us know – email@example.com. is the email address to use.
Our hope rests on Jesus and on the knowledge of God’s love. Nothing can take that away or change it. We may be living in circumstances that feel different than we have experienced before, but we continue to live in the light of eternity and eternal love given by the Father and available through his Spirit.
